Sunday Trot Trotting
It is a Sunday, which is a day that mum can come out when it’s not dark. I like not dark days, because mum can stay longer and I get more pats and brushes – which I like. Today mum said I did some very good things, which meant I got even more pats and brushes which Spoon REALLY likes.
One of the good things I did was not bucking or spooking in the big fun field of doom. We walked into the BFFoD, and I was like “Uh mum there are totally coyotes in the woods.” If Mum was as smart as a spoon, she would have let me run for home as fast as I could immediately. Instead, mum said we had to trot trot in circles instead.
So I went trot trot in circles, but I kept my head up and my ears listening for coyotes. Mum said it was ok to do that as long as I stayed in trot trot. She said today was about conditioning and not flexy bendy. That’s good, cuz I hate flexy bendy.
Then we went canter, and I put the correct leg out in front both good way and bad way. I got a lot of pets for this, especially after going bad way for two big hugest circles ever. I am a good Spoon.
After canter we should have been done, but mum said we had to go trot trot up hills for more condition. I wanted to gallop up hills cuz I am Spoon and I am just cool like that, but she said nooooo we had to trot trot. I did not like this, and pouted a little bit.
Back at the barn I was told I need a haircut. Mum said since I am going to be a Sporty Horse now, that I needed a sporty horse mane. I am still not sure about this. Spoon has long blonde hairs and looks very posh like this. But I got lots of treats and mum said she would only pull a little at a time. It did not hurt cuz I am such a big tough draft horse. It prolly hurts normal horses, but not a Spoon.

Mah blonde hairs!

I think I need a new stylist.

What is it with humans and blooming circles? I can sort of understand why mine makes me run round in circles while she is on the ground. Clearly she likes being dizzy but when they are on board? I like to go places not just round and round.
The other thing you have touched on that I just don’t get is…….we protect our humans. Thousands of years of evolution tell us to keep safe if in doubt run. So when unsafe we run to keep ourselves and our humans safe. Are they grateful? Not on your life. Humans claim they are the intelligent species…..
Maybe mum is not grateful cuz sometimes when I runs for safety I kind of throw in a little buck buck… you know, for urgencies sake!
